As the 2013 wedding season comes to an end (bar a few December nuptials still to go), 2014 brides are starting to plan their wedding looks. As an Asian Bridal make-up artist, I’ve been planning too. In my bridal 2014 series, I’ll  showcase some of the classic Asian bridal make-up looks for 2014, as well as some hot new looks for the bride that dares to be different.

Classic red lip with heavy smokey eye

As a general rule, if you’re wearing a smokey eye, you should go easy on the lips. Similarly if you’re wearing a strong lip, eyes should be neutral. When it comes to Asian Bridal, rules are made to be broken.

In this bridal wedding day look, the make-up is very strong, both in the eyes and the lips. This saree is also heavily adorned with crystals on the blouse, the main body of the saree and the pallu/ achal. I chose therefore to keep the jewellery around the face simple, and avoid a heavy matha pathi, opting instead for a simpler tikka with side jhumka.

Tikka, necklace, hand pancha, saree belt: Glitters, Green Street

Bangles & earrings: Rupali Online

Jhumka (customised from a pair of earrings): Andaaz Online
Volume at front created using backcombing under a twist braid, leading into a high bun at the crown of the head, with the remainder of the braid twisted around the base of the bun.

Eyes: Illamasqua gel liner as eye base, with Urban Decay Blackout shadow on top, and run under lower lashline. Kiko Dazzling Highlighter in shade 02 Gleaming Apricot on brow bone. Liz Martins false lashes. Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette on brows.

Lips: Body Shop lip line fixer around outside of lip-line. MAC Half-red lip liner all over the lip. MAC Ruby Woo lipstick on top and bottom lips, with a touch of a shimmery/ glittery red from Dior (apologies as I can’t remember the shade) in the centre of the bottom lip.

Face: Kiko Perfect Picture Smoothing Serum, Bobbi Brown foundation stick, Revlon Photoready cream blush in Flushed, Rimmel Stay Matte translucent powder, Kiko Dazzling Highlighter in shade 02 Gleaming Apricot above cheekbones.
