This post is dedicated to my unsung hero, Aveeno cream. It’s a moisturiser, yes, but it’s just so bloody good at its job.

Aveeno cream |  £13.39 | 300ml
Manufacturers blurb: Moisturises skin prone to eczema for 24 hours. Regular use helps prevent dryness and irritation caused by skin dehydration. Suitable for use on any part of the body, especially extremely dry patches of skin.

Ingredients : Aqua, Glycerin, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Isopropyl Palmitate, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Allantoin, Paraffin, Cera Microcristallina, Stearyl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol.

My daughter has mild eczema and this is the most effective daily hand & body moisturiser that we’ve tried. She needs daily application all over arms, legs, torso and upper back, so we get through a 300ml bottle every month. Thank goodness she gets this on prescription, as the heavy use can get expensive. With normal use you’d expect a 300ml bottle to last 3-4 months.

It contains colloidal oatmeal which is good gor dry or sensitive skin. That’s why doctors often recommend it as a daily moisturiser on mild eczema. Aside from the colloidal oatmeal, it has the moisturising usual suspects paraffin and glycerin, and a touch of silicone (dimethicone) as a barrier.

The benefit to me is that as I’m rubbing the Aveeno onto my daughters skin, my hands absorb it too. I have very dry hands and this really worked wonders on my dry, cracking (and bleeding, yes, it’s a bit gross) hands. I now have bought a few smaller bottles for my own personal use, and I love it.
