The Bristol Harbour Hotel opened last year on the site of the old Midland Bank HQ, and has retained a lot of the beautiful period features. Besides the hotel, there is a spa and a cocktail bar, as well as the Jetty Restaurant.

The Jetty is perfect for brunch, lunch, drinks or dinner. I work nearby so thought I’d stroll down one lunchtime to sample the new menu.

The Jetty is set within the old banking hall, and boasts classic high ceilings with modern decor for a fun, vibrant yet classy setting for business or social dining.

The menu specialises in seafood, and is designed around locally sourced seasonal ingredients. I opted for the 3 dish express lunch, choosing the seabass ceviche, truffle arancini, and crab croquettes.

I am a seafood lover through and through, and many of my Mexican or South American friends have said to me many times, “You must try ceviche! You’d love it!” I haven’t been persuasive enough to encourage any of them to make it for me, and as it’s notoriously tricky to make without giving yourself food poisoning, I haven’t dared try to make it at home. So I was really excited to try it here at The Jetty.

The verdict? Oh. My. Tastebuds. So amazing. It was the right blend of spicy, tangy, juicy, fishy, awesome goodness. The wafery thing I could have done without, but the rest of the relish, especially the pomegranate was perfectly married with the ceviche. I then had ceviche in another restaurant in Bristol, but it was nowhere near as good. This is a real treat for the senses. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.


Truffle Arancini

The truffle aracnini was literally a mouth full of amazeballs. Crisp, well-seasoned, full of subtle flavour, and a satisfying treat.

Crab Croquettes

The crab croquettes are a safe bet, very well cooked and a great finish for the lunchtime lite bites menu.

The menu is seasonal and so will change with the availability of different seafood. Overall, for £12 it was a lovely, light lunch and I hope to be returning for business lunches and brunches soon.
