Here’s the second in this weeks skincare reviews. It’s the Masque Argile from Cattier Paris. Masque Argile is a clay mask with kaolin and aloe vera as main active ingredients.

It’s formulated for sensitive skin and the aloe vera is well placed for soothing sensitive skin.

£4.25 for 100ml | Paid for sample from Birchbox |
|Ingredients: Kaolin, Aqua, Mentha Piperita Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Parfum, Lactic Acid|

First off the rose scent is really calming and not overpowering. After I’d slapped a generous amount of the mask onto my face I felt an instant cooling sensation which really soothed my chapped skin (yes, I get wind-chapped cheeks unless I go out in a balaclava). After the initial cooling effect, I kept this on for about 10 minutes. Don’t wait until the mask dries completely and become s an opaque pale pink, as that’s too long. After about 10 minutes I lightly sponged off the mask and rinsed with lukewarm water (I couldn’t face using actual cold water, which closes the pores properly).

Straight afterwards I felt my skin was less wind-chapped but still dry. I applied my usual skincare and then carried on with my evening.

As a soothing mask, it did its job well but I ask a lot of my skin care and so was really looking for it to soothe and hydrate. Overall my skin saw improvement on the day of use but would need regular use for full benefits. That said, at £4.25 each, it’s not going to break the bank, even if used weekly or bi-weekly.

Available at selective online retailers and currently available from Birchbox.
