Continuing with skincare week, today I’m reviewing the eye cream from cult brand Benefit, It’s Potent!

Benefit is not usually a brand I reach for. They have some stand out products in their range but the majority of the foundations, concealers, brighteners etc that everyone else loves are better suited to Caucasian skin. Their eye cream however is one of the stand out products that does cater to all skin types. I received a sampler pot and have been using it daily in place of my usual eye cream.

Texture
It’s Potent is a really lightweight eye cream, similar to the Bobbi Brown eye cream. I prefer light creams like this for everyday and cooling gels for sore eye days.

Hydration
It’s Potent absorbs quickly, even when lightly patting into skin (be kind to your skin, pat don’t rub). Once absorbed I can put make-up straight over it and haven’t found it getting dry again until evening.
Over time I have noticed a smoother, fresher look to my undereyes. I expect that with continued use I’ll be able to prevent eye wrinkles (none yet, thanks to my mothers genes). It hasn’t helped my dark circles as mine are hereditary rather than hydration related.

Fragrance/ scent
I prefer unscented creams this is so lightly fragranced that I’m not actually sure if it’s intentional. It doesn’t have the overpowering perfume scent that most creams these days have and I am definitely happier for it.

Value
It’s Potent costs £25.50 for 14.2g which sounds expensive but really isn’t. Why? Well you only need the tiniest amount. A grain of rice on your ring fingertip, pressed together and patted onto the socket bone is all you need of any eye cream. This little pot will last for months with correct application.

The verdict
I actually have to admit that I love it more than my trusty Bobbi Brown eye cream. Yes. Really. Once my Bobbi Brown cream is finished, Benefit’s It’s Potent is taking its’ coveted place on my dressing table.
