Beautiful Somerset has been the top location for many of my summer wedding bookings. On the way home from a Somerset wedding last weekend I stopped in at Clarks Village in Street. My sisters both visited Clarks Village over the summer for the first time in years (we used to go all the time) and have been telling me I need to go there for the kids clothes and shoes… so yes… I stopped in to buy items for the kids… and walked out with a stash of beauty goodies. In my defence, the kids don’t need new clothes or shoes right now.

As soon as I walked in to the outlet village, I spied this unassuming little store with a white sign and plainly named The Cosmetics Company Store. They retail a selection of excess stock from MAC, Bobbi Brown, Darphin, Smashbox, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and many other brands at heavily discounted prices, some even lower than pro prices. What’s the catch? Well as it is excess stock, they shades are limited. That said, if you’re looking for one-offs or discontinued special editions, then this could be your lucky store.

I spent a good half hour or so in the store, which is actually quite small but packed with hundreds of great bargains. Having had a good hunt around, I realised that here wasn’t anything I really needed to buy, but I was a little bummed that items I have recently bought full price, I could have bought here for a fraction of the price.

I did however buy the Smashbox Photo Matte Eyes mini-palette. This is a great multi-tasker as it can be used as shadow, liner or as a brow shader.

I paid £12.25 which is about 30% off RRP of £17.50. Not bad but there were much bigger discounts on other brands, up to 50% in some cases.

All in all, it’s not a store I would go out of my way to visit, but if I’m in the area, I will most definitely be popping in.
