Some people find red lips tricky to pull off. Others think that their skin tone doesn’t suit red lips.

I believe that there is a red for everyone, you just need to find your match. Don’t believe me? Look at these celebrities. Different skin tones, different ethnicities, all looking great with red lipstick.

Red does suit everyone but one shade does not suit all. Let’s find the one for you.

Blue-based reds: Great on pale skin and those with pink/ warm undertones. Bright reds with pink undertones also look great with tanned or brown skin.

My top blue-based reds: Dior Roulette Rouge, MAC lip pencil in Beet, Dior lip pencil in Holiday Red, Sephora lip liner in #08 Raspberry,Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss lipstick shade #107, Jemma Kidd lipstick in shade #01 Cleopatra.

Orange-based reds: best on tanned skin and darker. These may look more striking if your skin has very pink undertones.
My top orange-based reds: Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss lipstick shade #110, Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil in Red Square.

Mulberry/brown-based reds: Good for medium dark to ebony skintones. If you have fair skin, you can still wear brown-based mahogany reds but I would stick to a sheer colour as the deep, dark reds can look too stark against your skin.
My top brown-based reds: Bourjois lipstick in shade #24 Violine, Sleek True Colour Matte lipstick in Vamp.

True reds: these look great on tanned skin, up to dark olive skin (NC44/ NW44 ish).

My top true reds: No7 Stay Perfect lipstick in shade #80 Cherry red, MAC Ruby Woo, Jemma Kidd lipstick in shade #05 Eve, Revlon Colorstay Ultimate lipstick in shade #050 Top Tomato.
