Recently I picked up 2 shades of the Makeup Revolution foiled shadow pots. I was curious as to how ‘foiled’ they’d be given the bargain price point. They were on offer for £2.50 each (RRP £5 each) and so I purchased two shades, Rebound and Retreat.

The first one I tried was Rebound which looks like a rose gold in the pot (very on-trend for 2017-18), but when applied looks much pinker on the eye.

Eyes: Urban Decay Naked3 palette, Makeup Revolution Eye Foil in Rebound, Marc Jacobs mascara
Lips: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Complex
Face: Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, MUA Cosmetics Bronze Shimmer highlight

Normally I don’t like pinky shades on my eyes, but this had the rose gold tint so looked much nicer than I expected. I wore it for about 3 or 4 hours without it flaking or feeling uncomfortable. When I removed it, the shadow did come off in little clumps but only when applying a little pressure.

The second shade, Retreat is described as a metallic khaki. On the eye it is more of a rich antique gold shade. The perfect shade for evening weddings, and taking you right up to Autumn and then the Christmas party season.

What’s your take on metallic or foiled eye looks? Are they strictly ballroom or summer wedding ready?
