I’m a sucker for a good matte lipstick. The L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte lipstick was a love-hate introduction for me. From hate to love I might add. So what caused me to turn-about?

The first time I wore this was when I was working in store for L’Oreal back in January. When I swatched it in store, it looked really deeply pigmented on my hand. When I tried it at home on my lips, the pigment was very light, uneven and patchy. I exfoliated and moisturised my lips beforehand and so was really disappointed.

The following Sunday, during a quiet moment in store, I was having a chat to my L’Oreal colleague about beauty products across the brands, and I raised this as one of my hates. She was really surprised, as she loved it and she was actually wearing Silencio, the lighter nude pink, at the time. We’d had many chats on beauty products we love and reasons why or why not, and I really trusted her opinion. So I gave it another shot.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Max | £6.99 | 6 shades | My shade 008 I Gotta Feeling

I tried it out the next day but this time I made sure to give it a few good pus, and then tested it out on the back of my hand. Once the pigment had fully saturated the sponge, it applied on beautifully on my (once again exfoliated and moisturised lips). My initial mistake was not fully allowing the pigment to saturate the sponge applicator. I obviously went back to work and repented! My girl Alice was so right.

I’m loving

  • lip stain effect
  • depth of pigment
  • true matte finish
  • range of nudes and deep shades
  • sponge applicator gives smooth application
  • pointed applicator tip gives a crisp lip line

Not loving

  • pumping to load product
  • easily breakable twist lid

After my initial blip and then falling in love with this product (thanks Alice!) I went back for a few more shades. I also now have shade 004 Oops I Pink It Again (seriously, the song title theme is a bit lame, but the shades are fab!) and 002 Virgin (as in ‘Like a…’).

If you’ve tried these before, I would love to know how you got on with them. Hit me up in the comments or on Twitter @TasnimMUA
