MUA rule: select brush size according to the area to be covered.

Small eyelid = small shader brush
Face = medium/ large foundation brush

Have you ever watched any of Lisa Eldridge’s tutorials? If not, you should. She’s amazing.

I’ve watched dozens of Lisa’s tutorials and the one thing that always strikes me is how she achieves a flawless face using small brushes for foundation. So I tried it myself.

I used my Real Techniques Setting Brush to apply a cream to powder foundation from Sacha Cosmetics.

It took all of 2 minutes to get a flawless finish and another minute for subtle contour. All using a small setting brush. The advantage is that with a smaller brush, you apply only as much as you need. You get a medium to full cover flawless face without actually using heavy cover. This worked beautifully, even on my acne-scarred complexion.)

So next time you reach for a foundation brush, go one or two sizes smaller. Remember less is more.
