New shimmer highlighters… simply yay!

Kryolan are one of my favourite pro make-up brands. Their new products come onto the market with little fanfare and spectacle. Why? They’re so darned good, that they don’t need pr-heavy launch events. The quality of the products speak for themselves.

Highlighting and contouring has seen a massive revival over the past 2-3 years. I don’t always contour, as many of my clients genuinely don’t need it. For bridal clients, even when I’m not contouring, I always add subtle highlight. I’ve played with various shimmer cubes and powders and not really liked any of them. I’ve finally found 2 brands with great cream highlighters that I do love, Illamasqua (Gleam – there will be another post on this soon) and Kryolan Illusion creams.

The Kryolan Illusion creams were launched in early 2014. They come in 8 shades and cost £12.95 each… I paid about £8 (or thereabouts) for each one at UMAE, as they were on special offer. I didn’t buy all the shades but bought the ones I know I will use most. They are also available in palette form, with all 8 shades in one sturdy palette.

The shades I bought are Silk and Velvet (white and cream toned) and Cashmere and Nappa (peach and bronze toned).

These are very natural looking highlighters and can be built up from a sheer highlight to a more prominent highlight. The best thing for me is the compact packaging. It fits really nicely into my Zuca pouch along with a hundred other skinbase products.

The full colour range is also available in pallette form.

In the flesh and indeed on the flesh they do look really beautiful and are perfect for bridal and fashion work alike.
