As it’s gift-buying season, and perfume is notoriously popular but so hard to get right, I’ve decided to give you a little hand with some lesser known fragrances…

Here’s part 1, a deep, sensual fragrance called I Dare You, from Austrian-French perfumier Liaison de Parfum. The perfume was launched in 2013 and  developed by Austrian artist Nana de Bary.

I Dare You

£105 100ml | Notes: Amber, Citrus, Leather, Oudh, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vetiver.

With a premium price tag this is aimed at the top end of the market, alongside the Tom Ford’s rather than the Calvin Kleins. I Dare You is a beautiful rich, deep fragrance and is an Eau de Parfum, so is stronger and longer lasting than Eau de Toilettes. If you’ve been reading EyeSpyBeauty for a while you’ll know how I’m an EDP kind of girl. The purer the perfume the better, as you need less of it and it’s longer lasting.

I Dare You has a really warm, deep, spicy amber fragrance and I can’t help but be reminded of one of my personal favourites and a true classic, Calvin Klein’s Obsession. It has very similar undertones but completely different base notes and smells almost exactly the same. The longevity is similar to Obsession, but Obsession retails at 355 for 100ml… my advice, if you love deep amber and oud-based fragrances, go for Calvin Klein’s Obsession. It is almost identical to I Dare You but at half the price.

All I can say is, I’m glad that I have a test sample, I would be pretty disappointed at getting a ‘cloaked’ Obsession for twice the price. It’s not too bad though, as I now have a mini sized version to pop in my handbag rather than lug my larger bottle of Obsession around. Great for popping into my clutch for weddings and parties.
