Miss Dior was the first fragrance for the Parfums Christian Dior. Launched in 1947, alongside the Dior Couture lines, it has been at the heart of the Parfum House ever since. Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming is the fourth in the Miss Dior line and continues it’s floral tradition.

Here’s what Dior have to say about the new fragrance

Bright and colourful, Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming is a floral delight you return to over and over. Its top notes of tangy Red Berry are joyful and striking. At its heart, a gorgeous duo of Grasse Roses and Rosa Damascena embrace a radiant Peony accord. This infinite blooming of fresh flowers is upheld by a base of White Musk notes.

A positive and joyful harmony for a playful and irresistible Miss Dior.

Base note: White musk
Heart note: Rose and Peony
Top note: Red Berry

While I don’t usually favour floral scents, this little gem has left me pleasantly surprised. It has equal parts floral and musk and so gives that really deep sensual undertone that I love. There is a slight sweetness to the scent but this is complimentary to the floral notes, and isn’t a sickly sweet fragrance at all.

The floral tones make it wearable as a day perfume, while the deep musk gives it a sultry edge, perfect for evening wear. It reminds me of Calvin Klein Euphoria and Euphoria Blossom but the musk undertone avoids the sugary sweetness that I dislike about Euphoria Blossom.

The bottle and packaging are typical of the Miss Dior range and are very feminine. I’m not so keen on the cutesy bow or the sugary pink colour of the perfume, as it lends itself to a younger, dare I say, teen demographic, while the fragrance itself is a mature floral musk. The identity feels a little torn between not knowing whether it is a youthful perfume or a mature one.

The look of the perfume doesn’t bother me personally, as I always keep my perfumes in their boxes and out of sunlight and direct heat, so that they retain their potency. I am in love with the fragrance and would love it on others but it’s not my style. For those who like a deep musk with a floral twist, this may be exactly what you’re looking for this Christmas.

Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming EDP is available from Boots, Superdrug and department stores nationwide, priced at £49 for 30ml, £70 for 50ml or £99 for 100ml.
