Foundation review: L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique Eau De Teint
23 Wednesday Oct 2013
After 6 months of using La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo my skin is in a really good condition. *Hallelujah*
It’s not perfect but it’s such an improvement that I decided try a sheer foundation for everyday. For me this is a big deal. I only go down to medium cover in summer and so sheer is a scary, scary place for me.
L’Oreal claim their new Nude Magique Eau De Teint foundation is lighter than water…
Not quite lighter than water, but it is very light and gives sheer cover buildable to light cover.
I was surprised to find a good shade for my skin (I used 220) but I’m only a mid-brown Asian skin tone. There are 6 shades in the range but no shade for mid-brown or darker skin. Poor show, L’Oreal. Poor show.
The coverage is sheer with a really natural demi-matte finish. I actually like how my own skin shows through but with an added glow. It’s great for good skin days and is so light you never get a ‘mask effect’. I do still have acne scars that show through on my left cheek (it’s always the spottier of the two) and so a concealer on top of blemishes or acne scars is a must.
The packaging is a pretty luxe glass bottle and gives it a classy look. The directions for use suggest shaking well and adding a drop onto fingertips and blending in with fingers. While this foundation won’t streak if you apply with fingers (a lot of other foundations do look patchy without brushes) I still prefer to buff in with a brush, as it gives a hyper-real finish. It genuinely looks like my skin, just with a more even skintone.
It’s a shame it is a screw top rather than pump. I’m a hygiene freak and love pump tops. You do get a decent amount of product for your money as there is 20 ml in each bottle. It may sound low compared to other foundations from L’Oreal such as True Match (30g) or Infallible (30ml) but you only use a small amount each time so it should last same length of time.
Yay or nay?
I like it for everyday if I’m just in the office, but need more cover when seeing clients. If you’re my shade (MAC NC37/ Bobbi Brown 4.5/ Illamasqua Skin Base shade 6) or lighter, and have clear skin that just needs a bit of sheer cover to even your skintone, then this is fabulous.
If you’re darker skinned than I am or have acne or blemishes then this foundation just won’t cut it.
The good news is that it’s currently on sale at Boots and Superdrug at an introductory price of £6.99 (will be £9.99 from 30/10/13).
