Some days I want full-on colour. Others I just want a little flush. I’ve tried lip stains before but found them too gloopy or too minty scented for my liking. I wasn’t too excited by this stain by The Balm Cosmetics… until I tried it.

Sales blurb: Stainiac “hint of tint” works with all skin tones. Dab just a touch on your Cheeks and Lips; layer to pop the color. Fear not those dreaded streaks most tints leave behind – Stainiac’s aloe-infused gel-based formula is designed to give you more time before the stain sets.

I received a sample in my Birchbox and was keen to see how it matches up against the Body Shop lip & cheek stain (which I’m not so keen on). It’s meant for wear on cheeks or lips but I prefer it just on my lips. It barely shows on my cheeks and it’s probably due to the water base. The water base makes it great on lips as it sinks in and looks really natural. The Body Shop stain is a little gloopy for my liking so Stainiac is definitely my preferred choice. On cheeks the Stainiac is just too sheer for me.

It gives me a lovely natural looking pink lip without making me look made up.

The verdict
I like this very much on lips and it’s not too pricey. Will I be purchasing once the sample runs out? Quite probably, yes.
