Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser

The last time I tried Eve Lom products was 5 years ago when I was trying to get my stressed third-trimester pregnancy skin in order before my sisters wedding. I was not disappointed. It really helped repair my dry patches and smooth my complexion, giving it back it’s radiance. So when I received this sample of the Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser, I was more than happy to give it a try.

Here’s the packaging, a standard squeezy tube but a lid with a difference. You twist the top and the lid pops up. Squeeze the tube and the waxy, creamy liquid comes out. The liquid is more like a hard gel in consistency, like Lanolips or Dr Lipp Nipple Balm for Lips in texture.

Rub lightly between your fingers and smooth onto the skin. As you smooth it onto your face, it becomes creamier in consistency. Directions for use suggest you leave on the face for 2-3 minutes, but for me it started to get dry and tight after about 90 seconds so I rinsed off early.

Oh but the smell. It’s awful. It’s heavily clove scented and it doesn’t really fade once applied. If you can stand the scent for 2-3 minutes you’ll be okay but I hated it. The first time I used it, I was thinking ‘For a smell that bad, this better be a good cleanser’. Thank god, it was. This left my skin feeling ridiculously smooth, soft and bouncy. It was a delight to use (except the fragrance of course).

After using it, I was curious to know what is in the cleanser and just how it made my skin feel so soft, smooth and heavenly. Here are the active ingredients that make it work its wonder…

Active ingredients:

Clove Oil (antiseptic properties to soothe redness)

Eucalyptus Oil (helps drain away toxins)

Hops Oil (tones skin)

Egyptian Chamomile Oil (softens and soothes)

Papaya Fruit Enzyme (exfoliates, brightens, tightens pores)

Carrot Oil (helps stimulate collagen production)

Full ingredients list: Hydrogenated Polydecene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Lanolin Oil, Stearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Phenoxyethanol, Papain, Chamomilla Recutita (MATRICARIA) Flower Oil, Humulus Lupulus (HOPS) Cone Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (CLOVE) Leaf Oil, Helianthus Annuus (SUNFLOWER) Seed Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Beta-Carotene, Daucus Carota Sativa (CARROT) Root Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (CARROT) Seed Oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate.

After a week of use my skin felt amazing, even without adding serum. Once I’d applied my serum and moisturiser, my skin was well hydrated all day, right until bedtime. This was a fantastic little find for me, but priced at £40 for 125ml it is a bit out of my budget. That said, a little goes a long way.
