What do you get when you put 7 feisty females with a passion for dance together in a South London club?

Meet the Divaettes! They’re a fierce dance group from South London, managed by TipperEnt and mentored by the gorgeous Tipsy Dee.

Tipsy is a successful dancer in her own right, having appeared as featured dancer in music videos for the likes of Maxi Priest, LudaCris, Pyrelli, and Lady Sovereign. She manages dance tutors, DJs, Film crews, Make-up artists, Stylists, and Performers all through her company TipperEnt. The jewel in the TipperEnts crown is their dance troupe, The Divaettes.

The make-up brief was for a sexy street, dancehall-friendly look that could be adapted to suit each of the dancers, while keeping a signature look for the group overall. I drafted this look on my Procharts and was pleased to find a few days later that it fitted well with Tipsy’s Rihanna-inspired concept.

The shoot location was near Mystique Club (Old Kent Road) where Tipsy found a great graffiti backdrop for our street-sexy shoot.

The shoot was photographed by cheeky chappie Eddie, who managed to tame 7 fiery hot Divaettes just long enough to get some amazing solo and group promotion shots. The vibe in the green room was live, as the ladies passed time between hair & make-up and solo shoots by showing off their moves. I’ve got two-left feet and absolutely no natural rhythm, so I really appreciate seeing talented dancers do their thing.

With a 6pm call-time, the sun was setting during the shoot. I prepped the ladies inside the warmth and comfort of the club’s VIP area, with ample snacks and drinks supplied by the generous host Que Que.

The ladies soldiered on through the chilling wind, bravely working their poses to get the shots, while Eddie, Tipsy and I stood in our fleecy hoodies all snug and warm!

Here are a selection of the final shots.

Thanks go out to Tipsy, Que Que, Eddie, and of course the ladies themselves for being such troopers on a chilly May evening.

Look out for The Divaettes, as they’re hitting the dancehall scene hard and will be all over the urban music video scene in no time.

Remember, you saw them here first!
