Welcome to Pakistan Fashion Week UK, where you don’t have to be an A-Lister to shop the latest designs straight from the catwalk.

Top Pakistani designers landed in London for a fourth successive season to bring exclusive collections to you, the London audience.

Two weeks ago I was privileged to be part of Taniya Khans make-up team for Pakistan Fashion Week UK.

Now in its fourth season, it has grown from strength to strength. Designers such as Bani D, Tasmiya, Rana Noman and Zaheer Abbas showcased exquisite bridal wear and exclusive party collections.

Top Pakistani models Kiran Malik, Fauzia Aman, Sofia Khan, Sudaf Khan, and Sabeeka Imam sashayed down the runway entrancing the shows guests, who included top Australian singer, Gabriela Cilmi. Top model Faiza Butt also walked the ramp for the grand finale.

The day was long for all involved, with an 8am call-time for those working on the 2.30pm show. The buzz in the green room was electric as designers, models, stylists, dressers, make-up artists, hairstylists, runners all scurried about working their magic behind the scenes.

The make-up look for the first show on day two was inspired by Saint Laurent Fall/ Winter 2013/14 make-up by Aaron de Meyer. Flawless skin, soft brown eyes, contoured cheeks, but with a strong matte fuchsia lip as a twist. Hair was kept simple, in a low-slung side bun, reminiscent of Diane von Furstenberg AW13 shows.

Once models were all made up, there was a pause for make-up artists, as models went for hair, fittings, and final choreography rehearsals. This was a brief repose, as once the clock struck two, models for the first show were lined up behind the stage, and the nerves struck for all involved. I was busy working with the runway touch-up team, going back and forth along the queues of models making sure that faces were perfect.

The designers collections flowed beautifully from one to another and within half an hour, the afternoon show was wrapped. 3 shows down, 1 to go… The second show involved 2 make-up looks. The first was a classic beauty look, with a strong red lip that oozed evening glamour.

The second look for day 2, show 2 was a nude, matte lip for the final designer, Zaheer Abbas’ collection inspired by Marc Jacobs’ Fall/ Winter 2013/14 make-up. The twist this time was geek-chic married beautifully with off-duty cool.

Here are my favourite looks of the weekend. All photos used courtesy of Shahid Malik Photography.
